PNWORCA Winter Series 2026, Race #3: Kalama Small Boat Race

We welcome all small boat paddlers to the Third Winter Series Race 2026!
Categories include OC-1, OC-2 (paddlers from the same household), SUP, kayak, V1, and surfski.

Registration: Pre-registration is encouraged and open through Friday February 6th and will close at 10:30 PM that day. Check-in and same day registration is onsite February 7th from 8-9:45 AM.

Fee: $30 if you pre-register online, $35 if you register onsite on race day. Registration includes racing, bowl of chili, insurance coverage, and a raffle ticket. Payment options are cash, check (made out to Mountain Home Canoe Club), or Zelle - treasurer@maunahale.org

Race Day Schedule:
8:00 - 9:45 - Onsite registration/Canoe Numbers
10:15 - 10:45 - Safety Meeting (all paddlers)
11:00 - 1:00 Race: Long course ~6.2 miles, Short course ~4.2 miles
1:15 - Lunch (Chili) and awards ceremony
2:30 - Take down, clean-up

Race course: For the long course, the race starts downriver at the park and continues in a counterclockwise loop around Sandy Island with a turnaround close to the channel marker at Deer Island Beach and finishes downriver at the park. For the short course, the race will start at the park in the same place as the long course, loop counterclockwise around Sandy Island and then cut across the river toward the shoreline, to finish downriver at the park.

Insurance: Insurance is provided by PaddleSports Risk Management, LLC. The race will follow PNWORCA race rules, regulations, and safety procedures (see https://pnworca.org/race-rules/) All paddlers must complete the event waiver to enter the race.

Safety: All small boat paddlers must wear a US Coast Guard approved PFD, carry a whistle, and have a leash. High visibility clothing is recommended. Safety boats will be on the course to assist but are not responsible for paddlers, boats, or equipment.

Directions: Take Exit 27 on Interstate 5 in Washington, follow directions to the park. Parking lots and beach parking will be available.
